I am currently a single parent of three great kids, not by choice, but by circumstance. In January of 2009 my husband began serving a five year prison sentence in Federal Prison. He is currently housed over 500 miles from home and doing everything he needs to do to ensure that he comes home to us on time and safe.
In the mean time it has become my sole responsibility to handle the household, raise three kids, and keep every one in the family connected. I started this blog to offer information to others out there going through similar circumstances since I am always looking for others to follow as well. I believe that we can offer others some insight so we can learn from those walking the road ahead of us. Information is power.
I love watching my kids grow into wonderful human beings. They are bright, friendly, athletic and caring individuals and I take this job very seriously. It is also something I am trying to make sure continues in the light of our circumstances.
We have an anticipated date for release to a local halfway house sometime in December of 2012 and I am reminded very often that there are people out there just starting on this road. For that perspective I am grateful, and can only wish them strength, courage and hope.
When he comes home we will have a new set of trials to face but none can be as monumental as the ones of the past. Looking forward, we see a bend in the road but the road is one that we must continue on and shows no immediate end in sight, just the scenery changes.
